Greetings and salutations! More than a decade ago, the FDA issued a warning letter to the company I worked for. It was the result of numerous mistakes and failures by a wide range of individuals and departments. I recall the company meeting that took place shortly thereafter. My boss' boss' boss stood up in front of the whole organization and said, "This is on me." It was refreshing, and he earned a great deal of respect from me that day. It's important to remember that you can delegate responsibilities, but you cannot delegate accountability. I'm the type of leader who owns my mistakes and shares my successes.
