A McHappy Day Request

You Don't Have To Eat The Food If You Don't Want To

I can’t begin to know what it was like for my daughter to walk into an operating room where she would undergo an 11-hour spinal fusion surgery. I can tell you what it was like for me to walk her in there, though.

I also can’t begin to tell you what it was like for her to spend a week in the hospital recovering and learning how to walk again, all while in tremendous amounts of pain. I can tell you what it was like to be there beside her, sleeping in a shitty pullout chair.

The Ronald McDonald House room in the hospital was a saviour. It was a small slice of normalcy at a time when nothing was normal. RMH Charities do that and so much more, for families with children going through some of the worst stuff imaginable.

That’s why, when we wrote our book about our experience, we decided to donate 100% of the royalties to charity. Canadian Blood Services gets half, and Ronald McDonald House Charities gets half.

On this McHappy Day, please consider buying some McD’s. If you can’t, or won’t, you can buy some socks, or donate cash. In fact, you can do that anytime, not just on McHappy Day.
